Check Out Our New Chevy Aveo Inventory in Philadelphia
Available in a four-door sedan or a hatchback, dubbed the Aveo5, the Aveo is a fantastic overall value that's sure to please buyers. The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo gets a few improvements over the 2010 model, like OnStar's Directions and Connections plan free for six months plus a standard cabin air filter. GM is planning to introduce a new Aveo for the 2012 model year, which should bolster the
Aveo's leading position in the subcompact market.
Although the subcompact market doesn't immediately come to mind when talking about handling, the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo delivers. It boasts a well-tuned suspension and good handling dynamics, also due to its direct steering capabilities. The Aveo's 1.6-liter engine is good for day-to-day use. Although most subcompacts accelerate better with a manual transmission, Chevy has done a good job of making the automatic transmission more responsive than you'd expect in this entry-level class of car.
Although a subcompact, the engineers who designed the Aveo have done a remarkable job of creating a car that looks bigger than it actually is. This is due, in part, to its contoured side feature lines running front to back and body-colored doorsills. Additionally, owners are sure to like the three-dimensional headlights and bold, round taillamps. Other exterior features include: standard 14-inch wheels, a chrome-accented, recognizable, Chevy-themed grille, available 15-inch wheels, and available foglamps.
The cabin of the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo is roomy and attractive, with nice textures and no visible rough edges. The dash gives the overall feeling of clean and functional. The 1.6L four cylinder engine boasts 117 hp and 106 lb-ft of torque - making for better drivability.
Although the Aveo's automatic transmission only has four forward gears, it doesn't impact performance much and drivers will experience smooth shifting and an enjoyable ride. The interior includes a standard 60/40-split folding backseat and a fold-flat front passenger seat. Options include faux leather seats, imitation wood trim and a power moonroof. Other features include: a standard OnStar communication system with six months of Directions and Connections service, optional air conditioning, available XM Satellite Radio, and a standard AM/FM stereo with MP3 jack.
The Aveo is powered by GM's Ecotec 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. Transmission choices are a standard five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic. Other features include standard power rack-and-pinion steering, standard front- and side-impact airbags for the front seats, electronic throttle control and available antilock brakes. Additionally, the Aveo boasts an enormously strong steel safety cage.
And with 37.2 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, there's plenty of room for everything you'd need on the daily commute or shopping on the weekends.
The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo is available in three trim levels: base LS, midgrade 1LT and top-of-the-line 2LT. Buyers can choose from a sedan or a four-door hatchback.
The base LS trim is equipped with 14-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, a tilt-only steering wheel, OnStar and a four-speaker AM/FM stereo with an auxiliary input jack. At the next level up, the 1LT trim adds air-conditioning and an upgraded six-speaker audio system with a CD/MP3 player. Remote keyless entry, power windows and door locks, cruise control and satellite radio are available on the 1LT.
The 2LT is equipped with 15-inch wheels, foglamps, a trip computer, upgraded cloth upholstery, heated power sideview mirrors and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. Options for the 2LT models include a sunroof, leatherette seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and Bluetooth.
The hatchback version of Chevy's value-priced small car, the Aveo5 boasts a slick grille treatment which dominates the front of the car. Front bucket seats and 60/40-split flip-and-fold rear seats offer room for up to five people. All trims levels offer the Ecotec 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 108 horsepower. All trims come with a standard five-speed manual transmission or optional four-speed automatic. The 2LT level comes with a rear spoiler. Other features include 14-inch wheels standard, 15-inch wheels optional, standard side-impact airbags, optional antilock brakes, and an optional two-toned cabin.
The 2011 Chevy Aveo will continue to dominate the subcompact market with its high fuel efficiency (35 mpg highway), sporty looks, and nice handling. The addition of OnStar's Directions and Connections 6 month package is a nice touch. The Aveo is a great car to buy in order to enter Chevy's family of car owners.
