See Our New 2012 Chevy Camaro Philadelphia, PA
Burnouts will be the big big news for the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro. With the 2012 Chevy Camaro, this pastime of muscle car enthusiasts and high school kids is brought to an all new level. Chevrolet will be introducing the ZL1 trim level with the legendary ZL1 high performance engine option that will be a throwback to the 1969 Camaro, an all time favorite of muscle car junkies and acceleration addicts.
The 2012 ZL1 aims to grow the legend of the Camaro. It comes well prepared with a supercharged LSA V8, taken from the Cadillac CTS-V. This big monster of an engine will produce an estimated 550 horse power, right up there with the actual output of the original Camaro engine and 550 lb-ft of torque from its force fed 6.2 liters. This burly Camaro appears to have been built to terrorize drag strips rather than road courses. Maybe, just maybe, the ZL1 is more appropriate than Z28.
Like most muscle cars, most of the money was put into the engines and the exterior and very little was put into the interiors. Most of them have been quite non-descript. This Camaro is not in that category. The 2012 Chevy Camaro interior includes retro touches like square guage hoods and the available four pack of auxiliary guages along with a modern dash design. The look is a little too perfectly retro thanks to hard, cheap plastic, but this year there are soft touch inserts for the dash. More important, the 2012 Camaro has a new steering wheel that's much more ergonomic and comfortable to grip than that in the 2011 model.
The 2012 Chevy Camaro will be available in three trims. The LS, LT and SS.
The LS and LT will be powered by a 323 horse direct injected 3.6 liter V6 engine with a six speed manual transmission or as an option a six speed automatic transmission. The SS's larger 6.2 liter V8 generates 426 horses with the standard six speed manual transmission, and 400 hp with the optional six speed automatic with sequential shift control. Standard equipment on these Camaros will include StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, independent rear suspension, air conditioning, six airbags, OnStar and SiriusXM satellite radio.
The LT bumps it up by adding fog lights, 18 inch alloy wheels and power seats, while the SS will feature unique front fascia, sport suspension, Brembo brakes, and a limited slip differential. The available RS Package will set you straight by including 20 inch aluminum wheels with performance tires and distinctive high-intensity headlights with a halo ring display. More optional equipment available is a power sunroof, performance tires, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, Boston Acoustics sound system and a variety of exterior stripe packages.
