New 2017 Chevrolet Malibu at Reedman-Toll Chevrolet for Langhorne, PA

Chevrolet's continuing its midsize sedan with the Malibu and word on the street is that it looks fresh and rides smooth. This model was redesigned completely last year so the 2017 model is riding high on that with only a modicum of enhancements. Chevrolet has withdrawn the 2LT trim from last year and swapped the Premier trim level's former eight-speed automatic transmission with an original nine-speed automatic. Here at Reedman Toll Chevrolet we are excited about this well-outfitted and commuter friendly vehicle, let's explore further what all the buzz is about it!

Under the Malibu's Hood

The L, LS and LT trim levels come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. All 2017 models are front-wheel-drive. Fuel economy is EPA-rated at 30 mpg combined (27 city/36 highway), achieved in part by an always-on, engine stop-start system. As mentioned above, standard on the Premier is a nine-speed automatic and also a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that gets 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Hybrid model includes a gasoline-electric system which usually sends power from an electric motor, which in turn pulls electricity from the combination of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and a battery pack. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2016 Malibu Hybrid is an admirable 46 combined (47 city/46 highway). The Hybrid powertrain sees 182 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. In Edmunds testing, the Malibu Hybrid is a very quick sedan as it went from zero to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds.

Design of Chevrolet Malibu

The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu sedan is found in four primary trim levels: L, LS, LT, Premier and the Hybrid. There is an available MyLink touchscreen that is smartly housed within a dash frame, either 7-inch or 8-inch is available, which sees excellent colors, user interfacing, 4G Wi-Fi and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto smartphone integration. There is a 15.8-cubic-foot trunk is excellent (the Hybrid trunk is 11.6 cubic feet) and will store your stuff on long trips very well. The base L comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels, cruise control, automatic headlights, keyless entry and ignition, and air-conditioning. The LS adds alloy wheels, 4G LTE connectivity with mobile Wi-Fi, Bluetooth streaming audio and the MyLink infotainment system, and then a rearview camera to boot. Owners will find 17-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights, heated mirrors on the LT trim, and several other super features! The Hybrid has, as standard, dual-zone automatic climate control and an electronic parking brake, and basically equals the LT in similar features otherwise. Both the LT and Hybrid gain access to the Convenience and Technology package, and the Premier gets all of these features and then builds in some more with 18-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED taillights, chrome exterior trim, and a navigation system.
