Each version of the 2022 Chevy Equinox is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out a stout 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque paired with a solid six-speed automatic transmission that provides you with a smooth ride no matter where you venture off to. Front-wheel-drive comes standard, though all-wheel-drive is available for those looking for a little more traction on those poor weather days. This is a terrific engine, and it will get you from point A to point B with ease, making it the perfect family hauler.
What features can I get with the 2022 Equinox?
There are four trim levels available for the 2022 Equinox, and with each one, you can expect many outstanding features. The base trim level is the LS which comes well-equipped as it has 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, keyless entry, push-button ignition, and a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot. There is also a Convenience Package for the LS, which adds even more advanced features such as a power-adjustable driver's seat, an enhanced multi-color driver information display, and rear privacy glass. Even more satisfying features are available for the LT, which ups the Equinox's game with added chrome and body-colored exterior trim, satellite radio, and illuminated sun visors. The LS Convenience Package is also standard. Several packages are available for the LT, including the Confidence and Convenience Package, which has a remote engine start, dual-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and a power liftgate. There is also the Infotainment Package which has an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation system, a high-definition backup camera, and a heated steering wheel. The RS has more standard features and a sportier look with black-painted 19-inch wheels, a unique shift knob, and roof rails. An optional leather package with leather upholstery and a Bose sound system is also available. Topping the range is the Premier trim which rounds things out with ambient cabin lighting, a wireless charging pad, an 8-inch touchscreen, upgraded backup camera, and standard leather upholstery.
What are the standard safety systems for the Equinox?
The Equinox is known for the number of safety systems, and the good news is that many of them come standard. On the LS, you get a standard Forward Collision Mitigation system that will warn you of an impending frontal collision and even apply the brakes in certain situations. Additionally, a Lane Keeping Assist system will steer the Equinox back into its lane if you happen to drift outside of the painted lines. The final standard safety system is the innovative Rear-Sear Reminder system that will alert you to check the rear seats before exiting the vehicle. Higher-level trims have the option of an Adaptive Cruise Control system and a surround-view camera system.
